Program Objective:
This series aims at providing an in-depth understanding of certain HKFRSs. The speaker will cover an overview of the key areas of these HKFRSs with focus on some areas which are sometimes overlooked or misunderstood. The Part I includes:
HKAS 7 – proper classification, netting off and non-cash transactionsHKAS 8 – change in accounting policy or accounting estimate
HKAS 12 – deferred tax exemption and reconciliation
HKAS 17 - proper classification and operating lease amortisation
HKAS 21 – functional and presentation currencies
HKFRS 7 – foreign currency risk sensitivity analysis

Mr. Chan is experienced in auditing and corporate finance activities, and is well versed with International/Hong Kong Financial Reporting and Auditing Standards. He is experienced in providing technical support to audit firms in relation to audit and other assurance engagements of listed companies. He is an active speaker on IFRS/HKFRS matters. Mr. Chan is a member of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
His main duties in the firm are to provide technical support on financial reporting and auditing matters. He oversees the overall quality assurance of the firm and is also responsible for matters regarding ethics and training.
